My time as a high school teacher taught me how to instantly connect with teens and make them feel comfortable in front of the camera. I love photographing high school seniors all over the Greater Des Moines Metro and Midwest (yes, I’m willing to travel).

Hi, I'm Carrie

This is such a sweet family to me. I photographed them for the first time last year and honestly haven’t seen them a lot in person. But my interactions with them and knowing just a small part of their history in growing their family brings my heart to be staunchly in their corner, cheering them on as they raise their miracle babies. Shortly after their session with me last year, Little Miss Mary Margaret (Maisie for short) made her presence known. Juggling rambunctious twin boys and a newborn, we held off on Maisie’s “newborn” session until she was 6 weeks old to give them time as a family and especially, Mary (Maisie’s mom) time with her Mom (aka Grandy).

We knew that because Maisie was 6 weeks old, we wouldn’t get the curled up photos common to a newborn session, so we went the lifestyle route and with big brothers E & O, the candid shots quickly became my favorite! Their expressions were so sweet as they studied their little sister! 🙂

We gave the boys a break to get the wiggles out and I focused on Mary, Andrew, and their precious little girl. Grandy was also on hand to lend a hand and I HAD to get her in a few as well. Her health has taken a hit this year and I knew we needed to document this sweet time with the ladies and three generations to boot! Grandy snuggled in close & tight without needing any prompting to love on her sweet girlies.

After their break, we zeroed in on Mr. Oliver and Mr. Emmet for their close ups and their grins cracked me up!

We moved upstairs where there was yet more wonderful window light pouring through Mary & Andrew’s bedroom. I could shoot in their house all day long!

Andrew + Mary: You two have such a beautiful family and I know days (and night feedings!) can be so grueling, but I also know there is immense joy. Your boys are hilarious and wonderfully smart Little People and I look forward to watching Maisie grow up with two extra body guards by her side. Thank you so much for having me out to your lovely home!
Blessings this holiday season!
Carrie
