My time as a high school teacher taught me how to instantly connect with teens and make them feel comfortable in front of the camera. I love photographing high school seniors all over the Greater Des Moines Metro and Midwest (yes, I’m willing to travel).

Hi, I'm Carrie

I love all my clients/friends dearly, but there is a special place in my heart for my fellow educators when they are in front of my camera. Especially in our current season of so much unknown for our coming school year. Ali joked with me upon getting out of the car that they “didn’t bring their A game” to photos on this particular morning. And honestly? Who has their A Game right now?!

That is one thing I’m noticing and reflecting on after each session with my long-time families. I SO WISH I could give them a hug when they hop out of their cars!! Not because I haven’t hugged anyone outside my own family in months, but just to encourage them and help them relax prior to us starting photos. To take a pause and a deep breath together. I’ve enjoyed talking on the phone with clients more to get to know them before their session because I can’t have that handshake or hug connection in person. This shooting season is all about showing up for my clients in a new way and loving them in little ways that were a previously different practice in my business. And to be honest? I feel like I’m taking better care of my clients now than I ever have before! So, cheers to improving business practices!!

But I digress, here is my sweet friend Ali & her adorable family from last week’s session: Just look at those cheeks and dimples!!

Miss Molly has been on the blog since she was a newborn and it took me aback & made me shake my head in wonder at how much she sounded like a teenager already! “Hey Mom”….as she walked by us both out of the flower field…. Ali & I just laughed under our breath and gave each other the “knowing-Mom” look.

Rob requested that we capture a few of the kids with his dad-so special to see PopPop every year too!! (see above)

Ali + Rob: When this pandemic stuff is over, can we PLEASE get together for a playdate (the kids can play and we’ll just visit)! Laidy’s birthday parade wasn’t enough time to get all the visiting done especially as educator to educator. Hang in there guys-you’re doing great and Molly & Charlie are such dears. Please give them high-5’s for me, they did great!!

Be Well,

Carrie
