My time as a high school teacher taught me how to instantly connect with teens and make them feel comfortable in front of the camera. I love photographing high school seniors all over the Greater Des Moines Metro and Midwest (yes, I’m willing to travel).

Hi, I'm Carrie

Soooooo I didn’t want to slam the blog with all things CHICAGO all at once. I prefer to savor desserts, so here’s the last little bit of our time in Chi-town: Tori’s senior session had some added guests! I always make a photo happen of the senior with whomever is helping them out during our time together and in Tori’s case, it was her three sisters, her parents and her sweet pup, Nala. At just about every location we used for Tori, we made some family photos happen too – it was an outfit logistical schematic that Laura and I concocted in the lobby of my hotel about an hour before “Go Time”. Oh, what two determined mothers can accomplish!!

On our way to the Wrigley Building, we found ourselves under the main bridge leading us there, the sun was going down behind the skyscrapers, but we managed to eek out just enough light to make this work. After that, we headed to the Wrigley Building itself and used the lovely architecture of the railings for some group and individuals (while Tori was changing into her next outfit).

I am still pinching myself that we got this to work and that I’ve been photographing this sweet family for ELEVEN YEARS! (When Lil’ Ms. Tess was a newborn!)

I usually save some shots from each session for Behind The Scenes at the end of the year, but these with people hustling through their family group on the bridge show just a teeny bit of how busy and hectic our surroundings were to snap a quick few in between people!

I loved the view that Milton Lee Olive park afforded us! It was a trek, but each young lady had a pair of walking shoes with them and traded out for their “photo shoes” when we got to our next stop. One person carried that bag of shoes, Tori’s dad, Billy, carried her clothes on hangers, Laura carried her bag of props (softball, wrestling & swimming), Violet was in charge of Nala and I put Ms. Tess in charge of our timeline to keep us on schedule!

After Milton Lee Olive, we got an Uber & a Lyft to Lincoln Park Zoo, where we headed for the People’s Gas Pavilion. We could see rain coming, so we booked it quick to make family, couple and individual senior photos happen. I’ve said it a bunch, but I really am SO PROUD OF US!
