The Force That Is the Driftmier Family.
There are families who quietly move through life… and then there are families like Daira and Clint’s, who light up every space they walk into.
They’re the kind of people who empower everyone around them, who laugh freely, serve humbly, and love fiercely. Individually, they’re strong and steady — but together? They’re a hurricane of warmth, joy, and energy that pulls you right in.
Their three kids, Kyler, Diem, and Dace, are just as magnetic. Their laughter, their playful competitiveness, and their closeness remind me so much of my own crew. Maybe that’s why, as I photographed them, I could feel everything Daira must have felt in the rush of pulling this session together.
Their family’s schedule opened up for just a few days between sports seasons, Clint asked off-the-cuff if family photos could happen, and Daira — in true superhero fashion — gathered outfits, got haircuts scheduled, and made it all happen in 24 hours. She’s a force of nature like that. And actual forces of nature (like rain the day of our shoot) didn’t sway us to use a great spot near their home on Echo Valley’s Golf Course.

We dodged raindrops the whole evening, but it didn’t matter. Their joy and connection were brighter than the gray skies. When we finished, we rode the golf carts back to their home and Daira & I stood in the garage watching the rain as if the clouds knew it was now ok to let loose. We caught up on life — talking about youth sports, coaching philosophies, parenting, and business. Daira’s mind works in the most inspiring way. I could have listened for hours.
We also share something deeper — both Daira & I have walked through the loss of our dads. That kind of grief leaves a quiet limp, a shared understanding that connects hearts in an unspoken way. I left that night reminded of how rare and special friendships like this are… the ones where a hug at the ballpark in passing says I see you. I know you. We’re in this together.
Clint is one of my son’s school administrators, and seeing him in this more personal light was such a hilarious gift. I loved getting a glimpse of the family behind the professional role — the laughter, the chaos, the real life.

This family embodies what I love most about photography: connection, gratitude, and the privilege of preserving what matters most — right now. Not to mention, it is abundantly clear that Clint & Daira are their children’s biggest fans.

We beat the rain. We made the memories. And I left that evening so thankful for the chance to capture a family who truly reflects what love looks like in motion.
Clint + Daira: Thank you so much for making the room in your schedule for these photos to happen – talk about moving mountains! Always a joy to spend time with you and your amazing kids. You are doing an incredible job – keep going.
Much love,
Carrie
