This is why I love senior portrait sessions: I do something different, that I’ve never done before, at every single one. Every. Single. Time. They stretch me as a photographer, making me think on the fly, to find new ways of photographing venues, props and highlighting a student’s high school career. Normally, there’s maybe one or two different things that I’ve never done before in a session.
Brian’s session was quite literally 95% new to me. Not just one or two things!
We started at the stadium (which I’ve shot quite often) but for a record-setting, male, track athlete. Cue the new:
Brian is also involved in band (which is where I got to first meet him in 6th grade!) and while he’s hoping to go to Central for a track scholarship, we also wanted to emphasize his time in the band room. And his “super cool, old school tenor sax”.
We went from the stadium to Carper’s Winery which almost shares a backyard with Brian & his family. He’s worked out here for different events growing up and was the perfect place to highlight his other two loves that don’t occur within the school’s four walls: ATVs and fishing! His mom, Kathy, joked, “If you catch one, I’ll give you $10!” Well, turns out, Brian just got richer.
Brian: I have admired your strength & resiliency in these last four years and it makes my heart so happy that you have thrived, especially now as you await college offers for your athleticism.
