When Maddi mentioned that she was looking at a career in Mental Health/Counseling/Social Work, my heart broke for the heartbreak that she will see in her patients. But if any heart can withstand and help others, it is Maddi. She admires anyone who speaks up for themselves and others and a heart like that is the perfect heart for that career field! SO many of my seniors this summer have been former students of mine in the band room and as I’m photographing them, I can’t help but see their 6th grade former self, finding a friend group, growing in confidence, discovering a subject they love.
I love that Maddi has stayed in band and I’m thrilled that she is in the internship program at her high school as a patient companion: sitting with patients in conversation and getting a glimpse of the medical field while working with people.I know she’s going to do an amazing job!!
